Fired up about Fire Safety!!

The Albertville Fire Department paid our students a special visit last Friday to talk about the importance of fire safety. We spent some time in the library this week reviewing what we had learned.  We read the book No Dragons for Tea and talked about what we do if we are in a house fire.  Our buddy Bernie came by to see us and brought firefighter hats for everyone to get their picture made in!

Let's be Green by Recycling!

Students are learning how to be green in the library this week.  We have met a recycling superhero named Michael Recycle and his stories have helped us learn the importance of recycling and what kinds of things can be recycled!  Students practiced with a recycling sorting game and we had a lot of fun posing with photo props!  We also learned about why we shouldn't litter and how we have to all work together to keep our Earth clean and green!!

Thank you for making our Book Fair a success!!

Thank you for supporting our Book Fair!  We had a lot of fun at our Grand Open House and enjoyed getting to see everyone!  The profits from our fair will be used to purchase new items for our students to use in the library!

Things are getting a little BATTY in here!!

We discovered some friends hanging out in our storybook tree this week!! Someone must have left the window open and in flew a few batty guests! We thought this was the perfect time to read the book Bats at the Library.  Since things were already a little batty, our good friend Bernie decided to pop out of the tree dressed as Batman!! He brought our library a pet bat named Battyrella to hang out with us this year.  You never know what you're going to find in here!

A little visit from our friends!

Students visited the library this week to learn about how to take great care of their library books!! We read a story together called Forest Friends go to School.  The characters taught us about what we should and shouldn't do with our books.  When we were finished, our forest friends made a surprise visit from inside our storybook tree and brought a little treat...stickers!!  Students then checked out their first library book!  Happy Reading!!

We began our lesson with a Storytime Song!! This helped
us get the wiggles out!

After reading our book, we made a chart with pictures showing
things we do and do not want to do with our books!

Red Ribbon Week

We had an exciting Red Ribbon Week!  Our students learned about making healthy and smart choices.  In the library, we discussed fire safety.  We read the book No Dragons for Tea and talked about how important it is in a house fire to get outside quickly and have a family meeting spot.  We also had some special visitors come and read to us...our Aggie football players!  We had an exciting end to our special week with a balloon release Friday morning!
