We had an exciting Red Ribbon Week! Our students learned about making healthy and smart choices. In the library, we discussed fire safety. We read the book No Dragons for Tea and talked about how important it is in a house fire to get outside quickly and have a family meeting spot. We also had some special visitors come and read to us...our Aggie football players! We had an exciting end to our special week with a balloon release Friday morning!

Spooky stories and "Starry" Recycling
The past week in the library was filled with thrills! We met a few spooky characters as we read Miss Smith and the Haunted Library. Our friend Bernie dressed as Captain Hook, a character we met in the story, and told us about his favorite book Peter Pan. We also continued learning about items we can recycle. We are turning our trash into art as we work to create our very own "Starry Night" out of recyclables. Boys and girls colored bottle caps and glued plastic and paper to create our masterpiece. Students are discovering just how beautiful recycling can be!

Let's Be Green!!!
The last few weeks in the library have been all about Recycling. Students have met several new characters through our recycling stories Emeraldalicious and Michael Recycle. Our friend Bernie even made an entire outfit for himself out of recycling! After learning about the importance of recycling and what kinds of things can be recycled, students practiced with a recycling sort game and we had a lot of fun with some photo props. We even signed a banner that says "We Pledge to Be Green!" Students are encouraged to recycle at school and at home!!

He shared some cool facts he had learned about bats from reading a non-fiction book! Our students found some great books of their own to take home!!
